We Are Not Quite Done with your Accessorizing Lessons
Diane Pollack
I recently shared with you how to accessorize by mood or theme.
I got great feedback that it was very helpful, and I wanted to expand on the lesson to share with you how to best accessorize if you are wearing a print.
It is a pretty simple, yet effective strategy ...you ready for it?
And the answer is...mirror the shapes in your print.
What does that mean?
Let me give you an example.
Let's say you were wearing an Aztec print which has many diamond and V-shapes, use that as your basis to accessorize as I did in the picture below with my necklace and bag.
Note how the accessories in the other two images above also take a cue in mood, shape and color?
Now I am not saying that you need to go out and buy new accessories for all your outfits, I don't expect you to have or buy perfect matches for everything.
What I am saying is this is the first guideline to think about when choosing your accessories for an outfit.
If you don't have something that fits the mood, shape and color well, it is best to choose a simple accessory that isn't so specific.
Note that this guideline is also helpful to ensure that you don't pick the wrong accessories that might compete with your outfit.
In summary, to help you accessorize when you are wearing prints, use this simple, two step process.
First Step: Identify the design from the clothes you are wearing
Second Step: Mirror it in the accessories (e.g., necklace and bag)
Keep sending me in your questions, I love responding to them in my blogs so I can help you with your everyday closet and wardrobe needs.
